Competitive amplification is an exquisitely sensitive
technique for the most accurate quantitation of DNA and RNA.
This approach is based on co-amplification of unknown amounts of a
specific gene target and of known amounts of an internal control
template in the same reaction tube by the identical primer pair. The
control template is genetically engineered to share the identical
primer recognition sites with the target sequence but to differ
slightly in length.

4base lab designs competitive control templates suitable for PCR and
RT-PCR experiments either for gelbased or real-time formats. |
- wanted molecule: RNA or DNA
- the sequence of the target gene
- primer sequences if available
- method used for detection of PCR products
